TO THE MED
We have been running this holiday for 8 years and it is one of our favourite trips at a most delightful time of the year. The holiday offers similar challenges to the UK 'End to End', but the weather is usually better and the total distance is slightly less.

The holiday starts with a ferry crossing from Dover to Calais from where you start the journey south. Our route takes you through the pretty farming countryside of northern France and into Normandy, with its lush green countryside and distinctive timber framed houses.

After crossing the River Seine you cross the vast plains around Chartres and continue south through the magnificent chateau region of the Loire Valley. The scenery becomes increasingly dramatic as we head into the mountains of the Massif Central and around the distinctive cone of the Puy de Dome. We continue through some spectacular scenery with the landscape becoming drier and rockier as we pass through the impressive Tarn Gorge and over the Cevennes Mountains. We then drop down to the plains of southern France to arrive at the Mediterranean Sea.

The trip finishes on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea at the edge of the Camargue, the vast wetland at the mouth of the River Rhone, home to flamingoes and wild white horses. You return to the UK from the nearby city of Nimes.

There is one rest day at Pontgibaud in the Auvergne region of the Massif Central, close to the Puy de Dome.

This is a superb ride and our cycling holiday groups are always great fun. The trip includes a certificate for those that make it all the way down to the Mediterranean Sea, just to show you did it!!!

This trip is also available as an independent holiday taking from 10 days to four weeks and starting at Calais or Caen.

"The whole trip - info, support and cycling - was fantastic,
and I've bored everyone to death going on about it"
