This is a delightful late summer cycling holiday that takes you through the southern part of the French Alps, the region known as Haut Provence. The trip includes the climb of the ‘Giant of Provence’, Mont Ventoux.

Starting and finishing in the hills above Nice at the pleasant little town of Vence the route heads west taking you through through the rocky hills of Provence and along the edge of the spectacular Grand Canyon of the Verdon River. You pass through the stunning little village of Moustiers-Ste-Marie and then continue through fields of lavender, passing through several more attractive little villages, including Lourmarin, Roussillon and Gordes (which are included on the official list of the prettiest villages in France) as you head towards Mont Ventoux.

At Malaucerne the route turns east, taking you over the summit of Mont Ventoux and down to Sault. We then continue through the foothills of the Alps, the route taking taking you over several
small but very spectaular passes. We pass through the small town of Sisteron and continue through the mountains, passing through some attractive gorges as we head back to Vence. The following day we transfer you to Nice in time to catch your flight back to the UK.

This is a hotel based holiday, staying in small family run establishments. There are no rest days on this holiday.
