NORTH SEA
TO THE ALPS
This is a marvellous ride through the heart of Europe. The trip has something for everyone, with a wide range of terrain: from the flat cyclepaths of Holland to the more challenging but still manageable hills of the Vosges and Black Forest. The holiday ends on the shore of one of Switzerland’s most enchanting lakes, Lake Lucerne (also known as 'The Lake of the Four Cantons').

The holiday starts with an overnight ferry crossing from Harwich to the Hook of Holland. After arriving in Holland we head to the pretty old town of Delft, and then continue south through the attractive Dutch countryside, where there is easy cycling along the picturesque windmill lined canals. We then continue into Belgium, passing through the hills of the Ardennes which extend into the tiny principality of Luxembourg. Our route takes us the length of this fascinating country before crossing the Moselle river into France.

After the gently undulating plains of the northern Lorraine region we then climb over the Vosges mountains and continue through the pretty villages of the Alsace wine region. We have a rest day in Obernai giving you the chance to explore this delightful town or take a ride through the surrounding vineyards.

We take the ferry over the mighty River Rhine into Southern Germany, and continue through the charming towns and villages of the Rhine Valley before heading into the beautiful hills of the Black Forest. We cross the River Rhine once more, taking us into Switzerland, and head south along local cyclepaths that take us through the hills to the historic city of Lucerne. We then have a day free in Lucerne to explore the city or the surrounding area before we transfer you to Basel for the flight home.

This is a camping holiday staying at established campsites with all the usual facilities.
