Starting and finishing at the attractive city of Bergen, the "Gateway to the Fjords", the route takes you east along the shore of beautiful Hardangerfjord, before turning north to pass through the small town of Voss, which has become the adventure sports capital of Norway.
You then continue north through the mountains to the magnificent Sognefjord, Norway's longest (204kms) and deepest (1308m) fjord. Taking the ferry across to the north side the route continues past lakes and alongside rivers, passing through some small attractive little settlements, before reaching Nordfjord. The road follows the shore of the fjord to the small town of Stryn, and then continues north to Hellesylt, at the head of Sunnylssfjord.
We spend two nights here. The following day there is a superb ride that takes you along the valley high above Sunnylssfjord, and along the shore of Norddalsfjord, before heading through the mountains to one of the most spectacular of all the fjords in Norway, Geirangerfjord. The days ride ends with a boat trip back to Hellesylt.
From Hellesylt we continue west, crossing several smaller fjords as we head to the coast, following the shore south to the small town of Selje, where the cycling ends. We take the afternoon ferry from Selje back to Bergen. The following day you have the morning free in Bergen, before returning to the UK in the afternoon.
This is a hotel based holiday, staying in smaller family run hotels.
