This lovely ride takes you from the heart of London, across the North Sea to the most cycle friendly country in Europe. With its
distinctive landscape of canals and windmills, interlaced with a superb network of cyclepaths, Holland offers easy, pleasant riding. Starting at Greenwich in east London, the route crosses the River Thames and then follows the Lee Valley cycle route north out of the city. The next couple of days you through the gently undulating countryside of Essex, passing through pretty villages of thatched timber framed houses. We then take the overnight ferry from Harwich to the Hook of Holland, to spend three days cycling through the lovely Dutch countryside. The route takes you north along the coast to the town of Alkmaar, then back along the shore of Ijsselmeer and into Amsterdam. You have an afternoon and the following morning free in Amsterdam to give you time to explore the many attractions the city has to offer - the many canals and waterways and museums including the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum. Transport is provided to take you to Amsterdam airport or railway station for the journey home. The cost of the holiday also includes transport for your cycle back to your home in the UK, so you don't have to worry about it.
