This is a challenging ride that does a full circuit around Ireland. Starting at Belfast the route takes you from Northern
Ireland in a clockwise direction around the Republic of Ireland, before returning to Belfast. Much of the route is close to the coast,
but there are frequent detours inland to explore other areas. From Belfast the ride takes you south along Lough Neagh and through Newry before crossing into the Republic of Ireland. Continuing south you pass through the vibrant city of Dublin, before crossing over the Wicklow Mountains and heading south to Waterford. Here you turn west and continue along the southern coast into County Cork. Turning north we pass through County Kerry, one of the most attractive and popular parts of the country. The route includes the popular Ring of Kerry, and the Dingle Peninsula. After crossing the Shannon River we continue along the coast, passing the impressive Cliffs of Moher, and then continue through County Galway and the scenic mountains of Connemarra. The final few days takes you through the magnificent mountains of County Donegal, before you cross the Inishowen Peninsula back into Northern Ireland, passing along the Antrim Coast and the outstanding Giant’s Causeway (now a UNESCO World Heritage site) before you head back to Belfast. This is a B&B/hotel based holiday, using small traditional family run hotels or B&Bs. Kevin says: “Ireland has some of the finest coastal scenery in Europe, and this trip combines a chance to see the best of it, with the challenge of riding all the way around the island” |
