The holiday starts at Glasgow, and from here the route takes you across to the island of Bute, then back on to the mainland and north to the popular little town of Oban, the 'Gateway to the Islands'. From here we have a relaxing day on the ferry that takes us to the isle of Barra at the southern tip of the Outer Hebrides. We then spend the next few days exploring these islands as we head north to the Isle of Lewis.
After a rest day at Tairbeart we take the ferry across to the magnificent Isle of Skye where we spend two days. Returning to the mainland at the small town of Mallaig the route takes us south along the coast, via the Isle of Mull, back to Oban. From here we take the ferry to Colonsay, and then on to Islay, and Arran, before finally returning to the mainland and heading back to Glasgow.
There is one rest day on this holiday, as well as two days with longish ferry rides when no cycling is planned (although there is always the opportunity to do a little additional exploring if you wish).
