GENEVA
TO THE MED
This cycling holiday will appeal to people looking for a great ride through outstanding scenery. The route takes you through less well known areas of the Alps, and across a number of minor but beautiful passes. It is a ride for those who feel that trips in the high mountains may be too challenging, as well as for experienced alpine riders who wish to visit new areas or who want a more relaxing holiday.

On the first day of the holiday you arrive in Geneva where we will meet and transport you to the first nights campsite on the shore of Lake Annecy. The following day you begin cycling with a lovely ride over the attractive Col de Tamie and down into the Isere Valley.

The route then continues south through the hills, crossing several small cols and passing through many attractive little villages which nestle at the foot of the mountains. You skirt around the city of Grenoble and follow the road high above the Drac Valley where there are great views. After crossing the Drac River you go through some lovely meadows as you climb over the Col du Festre, the highest point on the holiday.

A long descent takes you down to the Durance Valley, a popular fruit growing area, and you then follow the river along the valley to the small attractive town of Sisteron. You cross into the Provence region, passing through many aromatic fields of lavender, and the lovely little village of Moustiers-Ste-Marie before continuing along the edge of the Verdon Gorge, the 'Grand Canyon' of France where there are spectacular views of the Verdon River.

The final days riding takes you through the rocky, forested hills of Provence, before a final descent through the Esterel Park to the shore of the Mediterranean Sea near St Raphael. The following day we will take you to Nice for the flight back to the UK.
