Itinerary: Day 1 – Lalinde / Bergerac –
Short ride to your accommodation. Day 2 – Lalinde / Bergerac to Biron – 32 miles
Pleasant ride that takes you from the Dordogne Valley to the picturesque town of Beamont, then continues through rolling wooded countryside to the stunning bastide village of Monpazier. Day 3 – Biron to Anglars-Juillac – 34 miles
The route takes you past the chateau at Bonaguil and into the Lot Valley. Turning east you then continue following the river through some pretty villages. Day 4 – Anglars-Juillac to St Gery – 36 miles
You continue along the Lot Valley, passing through the small town of Cahors. Day 5 – St Gery to Figeac – 36 miles
A great days ride that takes you through one of the most beautiful villages in France, St Cirq-Lapopie, then continues along the Lot Valley, before climbing to the small town of Figeac. Day 6 – Figeac to Autoire – 34 miles
Another superb ride. You pass through wooded countryside and several more very attractive little villages before descending back into the Dordogne Valley and ending the day at another of ‘The Most Beautiful Villages in France’. Day 7 – Autoire to Cales – 36 miles You continue long the Dordogne Valley, past the chateau at Castelnau and several more stunning little villages, before leaving the valley to climb to the spectacular village and pilgrimage centre of Rocamadour. |
Day 8 – Cales to Sarlat-la-Caneda – 30 miles
This is a lovely day that first takes you along the Dordogne valley then follows a cycle path to the medieval town of Sarlat-la-Caneda. Day 9 – Sarlat-la-Caneda to Les Eyzies-de-Tayac – 34 miles
A superb ride that takes you north to the attractive little town of Montignac at the head of the Vezere Valley where you turn south, following the river through some more attractive villages to the ‘Prehistoric Centre of France’, Les Eyzies-de-Tayac. Day 10 – Les Eyzies-de-Tayac to Castelnaud-la Chappelle – 32 miles
The route contuinues past several 'prehistoric' caves before descending back into the Dordogne Valley and through several more stunning little villages. Day 11 – Castelnaud-la Chappelle to Lalinde – 32 miles
The final full days cycling is a lovely easy ride that continues alongside the Dordogne River, passing through several more attractive little villages. Day 12 – Lalinde to Bergerac – 18 miles Return from Lalinde by train to the UK or continue along the Dordogne Valley to the airport at Bergerac to catch your flight home. |
