Channel to the Med Calais to Nîmes |

This is a classic trip of over 800 miles from the English Channel through the varied landscapes of France
to the Mediterranean Sea. Starting from Dover you take the ferry across the Channel to France and then
head south through Normandy, the Loire Valley, and the mountains of the Massif Central and the Cevenne.
The trip ends at the small resort town of Stes Maries-de-la-Mer, on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea
and you return to the UK from Nîmes by air.

| Roads & Terrain:
Most of the route follows minor paved roads and these generally have little traffic, however roads in
the Loire Valley, the Cevennes mountains and around the Carmargue are sometimes a little busier. In
addition the route passes through a couple of busier towns – although larger towns and cities are avoided.
The first half of the route is through undulating countryside with the occasional short steep climb,
however through the Massif Central there are some longer climbs which, although well graded, some people
may find a challenge. The two week and 10 day trips are recommended only for very fit cyclists.
