Normandy to the Med Caen to Nîmes |

This is a shorter version of our Channel to the Med trip. You start at Portsmouth from where you take
the overnight ferry to Caen – from here the distance to the Mediterranean Sea is just under 750
miles. This route takes you through northern Normandy to join the route from Calais north of the Loire
Valley. The two routes are the same from here to the Mediterranean Sea. You continue through the
mountains of the Massif Central and the Cevennes. The trip ends at the small resort town of Stes
Maries-de-la-Mer, on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea and you return to the UK from Nîmes by air.

| Roads & Terrain:
Most of the route follows minor paved roads and these generally have little traffic, however roads in
the Loire Valley, the Cevennes mountains and around the Carmargue are sometimes a little busier. In
addition the route passes through a couple of busier towns – although larger towns and cities are
avoided. The first half of the route is through undulating countryside with the occasional short steep
climb, however through the Massif Central there are some longer climbs which, although well graded,
some people may find a challenge. This trip is slightly easier than our Channel to the Med holiday,
but only because the daily mileages are shorter. Both trips follow the same route from the Loire Valley.
